Bruce is co-founder of the International Association of Calculator Collectors and co-editor of the International Calculator Collector, its quarterly journal. Bruce has been collecting and researching the history of portable electronic calculators for over 12 years, having used them since the early 1970's. He still has his original portable calculator, a Craig 4501, one of the earliest American-made models. In addition to any calculator-related background information about the 1970's, he is actively seeking models for his collection and can be contacted at bflamm@ix.netcom.com
He is co-author, along with fellow collector Guy Ball, of the The Complete Collector's guide to Pocket Calculators, a complete reference book on early portable electronic calculators, which was published in April 1997.
One of Bruce's new passions is collecting mechanical calculators and large electronic calculators (except models that print on paper tape). He is looking for models with displays which are CRT (like a TV screen) or Nixie tube (large tubes with wire-numbers inside). These were made in the 1960's and early 1970's by companies like Anita, Marchant, SCM, Singer-Friden, Sharp, Sony, Victor and Wang. If you have information about or would like to sell any of these please contact Bruce at the above address.
