EXTRAVAGANZA '97, perhaps the largest multi-day antique radio show in the country, will again be held be held at the magnificent Holiday Inn South Convention Center in Lansing, Michigan. The theme of this years convention is RADIOS OF THE WORLD and will highlight antique radios and related items of non-US manufacture. This will be done by have many related equipment categories for non-US items, an extensive German radio exhibit, the raffling off of a very nice British Philco 333 People's Radio (bakelite cathedral) and a keynote slide presentation on "Collecting Activities in Italy" by renown collector Robert Lozier of North Carolina.
Last year EXTRAVAGANZA attendess came in from 30 states, Canada, France and Australia! This year we expect an even larger crowd. Our open air flea market consists of nearly 400 contiguous spaces just for our sellers. In addition we offer tables to sell from under our big-top tent located smack dab in the middle of our flea market. Family registration is only $12 and flea market spaces are $20 for the first one and all additional ones being only $10/each. This year our auction will be on Friday evening with Rich Estes (the auctioneer of the recent Henry Ford Museum auction) as our auctioneer. Last year our Friday evening auction saw over 300 items change hands with sales exceeding $45,000!!
In addition to all of this, we will have an Equipment Contest, an "informal" social hour Saturday night, four (4) interesting Programs, four (4) 50/50 raffles, a Women's Luncheon, three (3) sellers drawings ($50, $75 and $100) a Donation Auction and lots of hospitality!!
