AMBERLEY CHALK PITS MUSEUM, Amberley, Arundel, Sussex, BN18 9LT (01798--831370, fax 01798-831831). Opposite Amberley station, easy road access. Opening hours vary according to time of year, daily in high season. Comprehensive industrial archeology museum, with a nice selection of old radio sets and a reconstructed radio and television showroom of the 1950s.

BOGNOR REGIS WIRELESS MUSEUM (Curator: R.E. Simpson) Located at the Local History Museum, Hotham Park Lodge. Open We, Fri, Sundays 13.00-17.00 from May Day, Bank Holiday until Mid-September.

BUCKLEY'S YESTERDAY'S WORLD, Battle, Hastings, Sussex (01424-775378). Wireless shop display.

DESIGN MUSEUM, Butler's Wharf, Shad Thames, London, SE1 2YD (0171-403 6933). A small number of design classic sets are on show.

INTERNATIONAL VINTAGE ELECTRONICS MUSEUM (curator Enrico Tedeschi, yes me!), 54 Easthill Drive, Brighton, East Sussex, BN41 2FD (01273 410749). Radio, computers, calculators, Marconi, Sony , Sinclair and general electronics collection open to visitors and researchers (phone for appointment).

JONATHAN HILL'S MUSEUM, Spice House, 13 Belmont Road, Exeter, Devon, EX1 2HF, (01392 411565). Communications museum with strong emphasis on radio and telephones. Curator is Jonathan Hill, well-known author on radio subjects.

LONDON GAS MUSEUM, Twelvetrees Crescent, London, E3 (0171-987 2000 ext 3444). Open 09.30-16.00 weedays, by appointment only. Huge collection of appliances from the past, includes a gas-powered radio.

MUSEUM OF BROADCAST COMMUNICATIONS, River City, 800 S. Wells Street, Chicago, IL 60607-4529, USA (+1 312 987 1500). Well displayed museum with shop and viewing theatre.

SCIENCE MUSEUM, Exhibition Road, South Kensington, London, SW7 2DD (0171-938 8000). Broadcast communications gallery with many interesting exhibits (plus many other items in store.)

TROPIQUARIA, Washford Cross, Watchet, Somerset, TA23 0JX (01984-40688). Look out for tall radio masts on the A39 road between Williton and Minehead. Wireless in the West, a small museum exhibition to celebrate 60 years of West and Welsh regional broadcasting. Tropiquaria animal paradise is on the site of the BBC's Washford transmitting station. Open daily 10.00-18.00 throughout the holiday season.

VINTAGE WIRELESS MUSEUM (London), 23 Rosendale Road, West Dulwich, London, SE21 8DS (0181-670 3667). Gerald Wells, curator. Delightful museum, often featured on television. Visitors are made very welcome but as the museum is not always open they must telephone first for an appointment.

VINTAGE WIRELESS MUSEUM (Lindfield, Sussex) Old Brewery, 53 High Street, Lindfield, Sussex, RH16 2HN (01444-484552). Ray Leworthy, curator and owner. Open 1000-1600 TuThFr, 1000-1300 1st & 3rd Saturday in the month. Sundays by appointment.
